BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who has been undergoing treatment at a city hospital since his release on bail on Tuesday evening, returned his Uttara home on Thursday, reports UNB.
Mirza Fakhrul reached his house around 3:00 pm from United Hospital, said BNP chairperson's media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
He said the BNP leader will go to Singapore after the Eid-ul-Fitr for treatment.
Six months after his arrest, Fakhrul walked out of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) prison cell after his release order reached the jail authorities.
From the BSMMU, the BNP acting secretary general went straight to the United Hospital to visit his ailing mother, Fatema Amin. He later got admitted to the hospital.
On January 06, plainclothes police picked Fakhrul up as he came out of the National Press Club after nearly 25 hours of stay there following BNP's announcement to observe January 5 as 'Democracy Killing Day', protesting the 10th parliamentary polls held on the day in 2014.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was released from jail on bail on Thursday.
He walked out of the part-1 of Kashimpur Central Jail in the evening after the bail order reached the jail authorities, said jailer Mohammad Nasir.
Earlier on July 02, the Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) vacated the High Court (HC) order that granted bail to the BNP leader in a violence case, paving the way for his release.
On December 26 in 2014, police filed a case with Turag thana against Gayeshwar on charge of giving order to produce three-hook barbed wire in order to carry out subversive activities. He was arrested on that night.
On May 06, the HC granted bail to the imprisoned BNP standing committee member in the case.
However, the AD on May 24 stayed the HC order following an appeal filed by the state.
Later, Gayeshwar's counsel Nitai Roy Chowdhury prayed to the AD to vacate the order.
