BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to his Thakurgaon village home on Tuesday to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha there, reports UNB.
The BNP leader along with his wife and younger daughter left Dhaka for Saidpur by a United Airways flight around 5:30pm.
Talking to the news agency before leaving Dhaka, Fakhrul said, "My mother is sick. I'm going to my village home to celebrate the Eid with her."
The BNP leader said he will return on Saturday, a day after the Eid.
Fakhrul, on behalf of his party and its chairperson, greeted the country's people and leaders and activists on the occasion of Eid.
The BNP acting secretary general returned home on Monday night after receiving medical treatment abroad for nearly two months.
Getting released from jail six months after his arrest, Fakhrul went to Singapore for treatment at the National University Hospital there on July 27, as he has blockage in his internal carotid artery.
On August 10, he went to the USA from Singapore for a surgery to have the blockage removed at Cornell Hospital.
Fakhrul had been in Singapore again from the USA on Sunday to consult his doctors at the National University Hospital before returning home.
A party senior leader, wishing anonymity, said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in London, asked Fakhrul to return home to take care of the party as she is away from the country.
