Fakhrul, Nahid's nominations declared valid

The nomination of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for Thakurgaon-1 constituency for the 13th National Parliament election has been declared valid, reports BSS.

District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Irshat Farzana confirmed the matter on Saturday afternoon, saying that the nomination was found valid after scrutiny conducted earlier in the day.

According to the Returning Officer, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir submitted his nomination papers along with Central Majlish-e-Shura member of Bangladesh Jamaat- e-Islami and former President of Islami Chhatrashibir Delwar Hossain, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh Thakurgaon district unit vice-president Khademul Islam. After verification, the returning officer declared all three nominations valid.

Deputy Commissioner Irshat Farzana also said a total of 21 candidates have submitted nomination papers across the three constituencies of Thakurgaon district. So far, the nomination of one candidate has been cancelled, while three nominations have been suspended.

In Dhaka-11, the nominations of Nahid Islam (12-party alliance candidate and NCP convener) and BNP nominee Dr. MA Qayyum were declared valid. Dhaka-11 comprises Rampura, Badda, and Bhatara areas.
