Mosaddeq Ali Falu, former BNP lawmaker, was allowed five days police remand Sunday for the fourth time in the second case of misappropriation of relief goods, reports UNB.
He was produced before the court in connection with the case of Ashulia police station and the police officer sought for seven days' remand.
Magistrate Siddiqa Mahtab granted five days' remand asking the investigator to grill Mosaddeq with care.
The counsel of Mosaddeq opposing the police remand submitted that his client was implicated in the case to undermine his political image.
He has undergone tortuous interrogation for long eleven days. If further interrogation is required he may be questioned in the jail gate.
Falu, a close associate of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, was accused of misappropriation of 650 relief corrugated iron (CI) sheets, which were recovered from his Sanghai Ceramic Limited at Ashulia.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) officer Abdus Salam is investigating the case.
Arrested by the joint forces on February 6 this year, Falu faces at least two cases. According to sources, heavy corruption cases are in the offing against him.
