Falu's wife gets eight years in jail

A special court sentenced Wednesday Mahbuba Sultana, wife of detained former BNP lawmaker Mosaddek Ali Falu, to eight years in jail, five years being rigorous imprisonment (RI), in an income tax-evasion case.
Judge M Firoze Alam of the special court, set up at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, also fined her Tk 15.80 million, in default, to suffer one year more in jail, reports UNB.
Besides, the court ordered confiscation of her property worth Tk 63.20 million she amassed illegally.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) filed the case against her for evading income tax of Tk 63.20 million.
