Fazilatunnesa Mujib\\\'s 84th birth anniv today

The 84th birth anniversary of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be observed today (Friday), reports UNB.

Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies have chalked out a daylong programme to observe the day in a befitting manner.

The party will place wreaths at her grave at Banani graveyard at 8:30am and organise special prayers for the salvation of the departed soul.

Mohila AL will hold Milad and a discussion at Bangabandhu Avenue after Asr prayers.

Besides, Jubo League will hold a discussion at its office at 10am to mark the day.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend a programme organised on occasion of the day at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 10 am.

In a statement Thursday, Awami League general secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam urged all leaders and activists to observe the day in a befitting manner.

Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was assassinated, along with most of her family members, including Bangabandhu, in a military putsch on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.
