Food and fresh water supply to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office for her party leaders, office staff and security personnel remained disrupted for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday due to reported obstruction by law enforcers, reports UNB.
Plainclothes police deployed in front of the office blocked a CNG-run auto-rickshaw as it arrived there with 40 packets of cooked food and some bottled water at around 12:15pm.
The law enforcers asked the auto-rickshaw puller to immediately leave the area with the food and water, reportedly saying that there was no permission to supply the food to the office.
The law enforcers on Wednesday night suddenly stopped the supply of food and fresh water to Khaleda's Gulshan office by turning away a van carrying cooked food and bottled water.
BNP chairperson's media wing member Shamsuddin Didar said as nearly 40 people inside the office were going hungry for lack of food, they brought the cooked food from a city restaurant, but police turned back the auto-rickshaw carrying the food.
In reply of a question, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque said that the supply of food to Khaleda Zia's office was normal. Nobody was creating hindrance. She (Khaleda) had been getting food and she was physically well.
The IGP also said the law and order situation in the country become 'almost normal'.
He was addressing a function at the Police Headquarters in the city on Saturday.
