BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has directed the 20-party leaders and activists to form "resistance committees" across the country to thwart 'state-sponsored terrorism', reports UNB.

In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salauddin Ahmed Monday said, "Khaleda Zia has ordered constitution of resistance committees under the leadership of the 20-party alliance in all areas and localities all over the country to prevent state terrorism."

He further said, "The fall of the illegal and plunderer regime is certain in the face of people's spontaneous resistance."

The BNP leader claimed that the Prime Minister herself confirmed her name as an accused of order giver for all the mass killings by her open arrogant announcement for carrying out mass killings.

He said Sheikh Hasina made such an announcement with an evil intention to perpetuate her illegal power and protect Awami League which has now become politically bankrupt.

"The Awami plot to cling to power by letting loose police will never be successful," Salauddin warned.

He remained the Prime Minister that mass killings by Rakhkhi Bahini and introduction of one-party rule Baksal could not save her father's life and urged her to shun mass killings, repressive acts and suppression.

The BNP leader also called upon the Prime Minister to show respect for mass people's demand for holding a free, fair, acceptable and participatory election under a non-party administration to ensure a stable political situation in the country.

Meanwhile, The BNP-led 20-party alliance has worked out a strategy to carry out a strong movement with tougher programmes like non-cooperation together with ongoing non-stop blockade under an alternative leadership in case of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's arrest, reports UNB.

The alliance leaders said they will in no way retreat from their current movement until it derives desired outcomes no matter how harsher move the government takes, including Khaleda's arrest.

A leader close to the BNP chief said wishing anonymity that Khaleda has already directed the top leaders of her party, its different units and district leaders to continue the movement even if she is arrested.

As per the strategy, the BNP chief will announce a non-cooperation movement through journalists soon after the law enforcers enter her office in a bid to arrest her and it will continue until the fall of the current government.

In her absence, Tarique Rahman will lead the party and give necessary directions to the party leaders concerned over phone from London where he has been staying since 2008. As per the BNP constitution, senior vice chairman will play the role of chairperson in absence of his or her.

A movement coordination committee will also be formed with party senior leaders RA Gani, Tariqul Islam, ASM Hannan Shah, Nazrul Islam Khan and Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan to oversee the party activities and movement.
