Former education minister Sadique laid to rest

Member of the Awami League council of advisers and former education minister ASHK Sadique was buried at the Banani graveyard in the city Saturday, reports bdnews24.com.
The main namaz-e-janaza of the former minister was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, other advisers, speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, deputy speaker and leaders of different political parties attended the janaza.
Earlier on the day, another janaza was held in front of the Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue, where party leaders and workers were present.
Sadique died of cardiac arrest on Sept 9 in his election constituency of Keshabpur in Jessore. He was 73.
Born in Jessore in 1934, he graduated in economics in 1954 and went to the United States. He received a master's degree in the same subject from Williams College.
Sadique joined the then Pakistan Civil Service in 1956. He worked as secretary to the first prime minister of Bangladesh, Tajuddin Ahmed, during the Liberation War.
Sadique left the public service on March 25, 1988 and joined Bangladesh Awami League.
