Former RU VC, pro-VC get bail

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Feb 11: Prof Abdus Sobahan and Prof

Muhammad Nurullah, former vice-chancellor (VC) and pro-vice-chancellor of

the Rajshahi University (RU) were granted bail in a bribery case Monday.

The court granted them the bail on a prayer filed in this connection.

Monjur Rahman, a resident of Raninagar in Rajshahi city

filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Rajshahi on April 25 last year.

Mr Rahman accused the former VC and pro-VC of taking Tk 0.9 million in bribe for giving jobs to one Asadul Islam of Raninagar as a peon and another Md Asaduzzaman of Khatakhali as an upper grade assistant at the RU.

On completion of tests, Prof Sobhan and Prof Nurullah asked the candidates to wait until the decision of university syndicate meeting came.
