Four AL stalwarts held for bringing out flash procession in city

Police have arrested four stalwarts of the banned Awami League from Mohakhali area in the capital as they brought out a sudden procession blaming the immediate past interim government for what they called its failure to control measles outbreak.
They brought out the procession on the main road of Mohakhali inter-district bus terminal area at around 9:00 am on Thursday.
During the procession, they blamed the former Chief Adviser of the immediate past interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus and former health adviser Noor Jahan Begum for their 'failure to control' the fast spreading measles outbreak', and demanded punishment of the duo.
The arrested persons are: Mizanur Rahman Hawlader (40), Shamim Ara Baby (50), Monir Hossain (48) and Md Jewel Mia (41).
Officer-in-Charge of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman said that the protesters had also hurled four cocktails.
The four arrestees were among those who were involved in hurling cocktails, he added. According to police, around 10 to 15 persons under the banner of 'Progressive Citizens Forum' brought out the procession.
The persons joined in the procession chanting slogans like "Joy Bangla", "No fear of Sheikh Hasina" and "We haven't left the roads".
They also carried banners with photos of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina.
Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of Tejgaon Industrial area Abdullah Al Imran said that police were interrogating the detainees.
He said legal action will be taken against those involved after a proper investigation..
