Four held during march to Dhanmondi 32

FE REPORT | March 08, 2026 00:00:00

Police arrested four individuals on Saturday as they attempted to move toward Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi-32 with flowers to pay tribute marking the historic March 7.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalabagan Police Station, Md Fazle Ashik, said police detained the four in front of Square Hospital around 6:30 am on Saturday when they were heading toward Dhanmondi-32 with followers to show their respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said they were later sent to court after a case was filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Police sources said the group consisted of around 10 to 15 people carrying flower garlands. Sensing the presence of police, most of them dispersed, while four individuals were apprehended at the scene.

March 7, the day Sheikh Mujib, the founding father of Bangladesh, delivered his historic speech that spread the message of independence across the country in 1971, has come this year in a markedly different political landscape.
