Coordinator of the probe bodies on the BDR massacre Commerce Minister Faruk Khan said Wednesday nearly 1,800 soldiers of the embattled border force were still absconding showing a thumb to the government directive to report back to their headquarters, reports UNB.
He said the government would take stern action against the truant BDR jawans as they did not pay respect to government directives.
"Tougher punishment will be meted out to the BDR jawans who did not report within the government-set deadline," Faruk Khan said, as long-drawn hectic investigations have been underway since the February 25-26 mayhem in which almost all the army officers in command of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) were killed.
The retired Army officer came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with a delegation of National Association of Cottage Industries Bangladesh (NASCIB) at his office.
He said everyday the investigators were getting new evidences which ultimately forced the government to extend time for a fair and unbiased investigation.
He informed the newsmen that the evidences found recently were now being examined methodically. "I think the government granted 30 more working days for the investigation logically," he said.
He claimed the investigation process had been proceeding fairly and freely and the countrymen would surely get the probe report as soon as it was completed.
