SHARIATPUR, June 30 (UNB): RAB personnel arrested fugitive convict local Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Majhi from Tarabunia area of Bhedarganj Upazila Friday.
Acting on a tip-off a team of RAB raided the area at about 1:00 am and arrested the chairman of North Tarabunia Union Parishad. Later, he was handed over to local police.
Police said the UP chairman was convicted in a case by a court recently in absentia and he was also wanted in three other criminal cases.
Another report from Jhalakati adds: Police arrested a local terrorist, Farhad Shikdar, from Dapdapia village in Nalchhiti Upazila Friday.
Police said he was wanted in a number of criminal cases.
