Further probe report in Hadi murder case June 28

A Dhaka court has given the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) 11 more days to submit a further investigation report into the murder of Inqilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman bin Hadi, report agencies.
The report is now due by June 28.
Wednesday had been set as the deadline for the report, but the case's investigating officer, CID Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdul Kadir Bhuiyan, failed to submit it.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah then fixed the new date, prosecution police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Rukunuzzaman said.
Hadi, who rose to prominence through the July Uprising and the movement to ban Awami League activities, had declared his candidacy as an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the February election.
On December 12 last year, he was seriously shot and wounded by an assailant while campaigning near Bijoynagar.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for surgery after being shot in the head, then admitted to Evercare Hospital Bangladesh the same night.
Two days later, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance, where news of his death emerged on Dec 18 while he was still undergoing treatment.
After Hadi was shot, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case on Dec 14.
Murder charges under Section 302 were later added, and the case moved from police station investigators to the Detective Branch (DB).
Following its investigation, DB police filed a chargesheet in the case on Jan 6, naming 17 people as suspects, including former ward councillor Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappi and former Chhatra League activist Faisal Karim Masud.
The plaintiff, however, objected to the chargesheet, and submitted a petition against it in court on Jan 15.
The court accepted the petition and transferred the case to the CID for further investigation.
