Gazipur mayor Mannan, 43 others chargesheeted

Police submitted on Thursday a charge sheet against detained Gazipur City Corporation Mayor MA Mannan and 43 local BNP leaders and activists in a violence case filed in 2014, reports UNB.

Gazipur district BNP president Fazlul Haque Milon was among the chargesheeted accused .

Joydevpur thana police submitted the charge sheet to Gazipur senior judicial magistrate court. Later, the court fixed May 12 for hearing on the charge sheet.

On December 27, 2014, a group of miscreants vandalised a microbus carrying some journalists and a leguna (human hauler) in the Nagarbari area of the city during a hartal enforced by BNP.

MA Farid, a local journalist, filed a case against 30 BNP men, including mayor Mannan, and some 15-20 unidentified BNP activists with Joydevpur thana on the day.

On February 11, 2015, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Mayor Mannan from his Baridhara residence in the capital in an arson case.
