Claiming that the government has failed to get any sympathy and recognition from the international community, BNP said on Sunday the fall of the regime is now only a matter of time, reports UNB.
"The current illegal government which begged door to door of the international community with a hope to get recognition and sympathy has finally been refused and now awaits a disgraceful fall," BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said in a statement.
He alleged that the government has failed to brand the current political crisis created from a 'controversial, voter-less and facial' election as a militancy-related problem to the international community. "Now they've indulged in a serious carnage."
The BNP leader said the law enforcers cooked up a crossfire story after killing student leader Tipu and Jasas leader Kabir Hossain at Agoirjhola in Barisal.
He strongly condemned the killings.
Salahuddin warned that those responsible for the killings will be tried in proper courts, including the international crimes tribunal, after change of power.
He said those being killed in the current movement will be given the honour of national heroes once their party returns to power.
Another report from Mymensingh adds: A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal was injured in police firing while trying to flee after hurling two crude bombs on the law enforcers at Town Hall crossing in front of the opposition leader Rawshan Ershad's residence early Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Nuruzzaman, joint convenor of Kotwali unit Swechchhasebak Dal, volunteer front of BNP.
Officer-in-charge Fazlul Karim of Kotwali Model Police Station said a group of people hurled two crude bombs targeting the on-duty police members in the area about 1:00 am and tried to flee the scene.
Police tried to nab them and at one stage opened fire, leaving Nuruzzaman injured.
Later, police arrested Nuruzzaman while his associates managed to flee the scene.
Injured Nuruzzaman was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital under police custody.
Govt awaits disgraceful fall, says BNP leader
