NARAIL, Oct 16 (BSS): Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad said that the present government believes in free flow of information.
"The government passed the Right to Information Act (RTI)-2009 so that journalists can work freely", he said.
The minister was addressing a view exchange meeting at the conference room of the district's deputy commissioner.
Lawmakers Kabirul Haq Mukti, Brig Gen (retd) SK Abu Baker and Cultural Affairs Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun, among others, attended the meeting with Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain in the chair.
Azad said corruption would be reduced significantly from the country if the RTI was implemented properly. He said Sweden was the first country that had passed the RTI law which ultimately made the country corruption-free.
The minister urged journalists to identify problems and sufferings of the people so that the government could take necessary measures.
