Home Minister Sahara Khatun has waved away the opposition BNP's claim that the government had concealed Ward Commissioner Chowdhury Alam.
"His (Alam's) disappearance will be probed and the mystery will be made open," she said.
The minister was briefing newsmen after attending a workshop of industrial police at Mirpur Police Staff College Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.
Sate minster for Home Shamsul Hoque Tuku was also present on the occasion.
Tuku said there had been efforts to fabricate issues including the one regarding Alam to save the war criminals.
"We're looking for Alam around the country. The law enforcing and intelligence agencies are sincerely working on the issue," he added.
Citing the killing of BNP leader Jamaluddin, he said: "The previous government could not find their man 'Jamaluddin'. How can they now allege something like this?"
His family and several BNP leaders allege that either the police or RAB personnel had kept him confined after capturing him on June 25.
