BNP on Wednesday alleged that the government is harassing its chairperson Khaleda Zia in the name of trial in connection with cases filed against her out of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'personal vendetta', reports UNB.

"She (Khaleda) has been appearing before court almost every day in false cases with which she has no connection. Sheikh Hasina is forcing her to go to court in the Awami process, not in the legal process, to harass her," said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Speaking at a programme at the Jatiya Press Club, he further said, "The country's people know Sheikh Hasina is disturbing Khaleda Zia out of her personal vengeance."

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Forum of Jahangirnagar University arranged the programme to introduce the Jatiyatabadi panel ahead of the university's senate registered graduate representative election.

Referring to Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid's comment that the media reports on his bribe remark are 'partial' and 'baseless', Rizvi said the minister is now changing his stance due to huge pressure from the government and to protect his portfolio.

He said the government has turned education into a saleable commodity while the question papers of all-level examinations get leaked regularly.

The BNP leader also accused the ruling party-backed students and teachers of involving in various misdeeds, irregularities and destroying the academic atmosphere.

Rizvi urged all to be vocal against the 'misrule and misdeeds' of the government.

He also called upon the Jahangirnagar University registered graduates to get united and ensure the victory of Jatiyatabadi panel in the senate registered graduate representative election billed for December 30.
