Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi said on Saturday the government wants to see a peaceful and non-violent election and he does not see any reason why the polls will not be peaceful, reports UNB.
"It's our hope the polls will be held peacefully. I don't see any reason that the polls won't be held peacefully," he told journalists after visiting the restoration project of Baro Sardar Bari at Sonargaon.
Responding to a question about army deployment, Dr Rizvi said it will depend on the Election Commission how and where the army would be deployed. "The EC is an autonomous body. They'll act at their wish. Here the government has no role to play," he said.
The PM's Adviser said the only desire of the government is to see a peaceful and violence-free election where people will be able to cast their votes peacefully.Korean Ambassador in Bangladesh Lee Yun-young, along with a group of Heads of Mission in Dhaka, was also present who visited Sonargaon, the ancient capital of Bengal.
