Govt re-fixes fees for cable TV subscribers, operators

Monthly connection fees for cable TV operators and subscribers have been re-fixed in line with the order of the High Court, said the Information Ministry in a circular Monday, reports BSS.
According to the circular, cable operators cannot charge a monthly fee of more than Tk 300 for offering less than 60 channels, including 25 pay channels, to subscribers.
A viewer will pay the highest Tk 150 as connection fee for 30 channels, including minimum 10 pay-channels, and field operators will be able to charge Tk 50
monthly for each viewer's connection.
For 40 channels, including 15 pay-channels, a subscriber will pay the highest Tk 200 and field operators will be able to charge Tk 60 monthly for each subscriber's connection.
