Govt successful in curbing militancy: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said on Wednesday that the government could successfully control the rise of terrorism and militancy in the country, reports UNB.
The minister, also president of the taskforce to strengthen action against militancy financing, came up with the remark after a meeting of the taskforce at the home ministry.
He said that according to the direction of Bangladesh Bank, the authorities of the banks have to inform intelligence for investigation if they find any inconsistency in any transaction.
The minister also asked the banks to follow rules during money transaction.
The intelligence is also investigating whether the money coming from foreign countries is being used in militancy financing. Besides, they are also investigating courier, online transaction and suspicious telephone conversations, he said
Besides, the bordering countries will also assist so that illegal money transfer could be stopped through border.
There are three types of people behind militancy financing. They are- militant himself, supporters, and the sympathetic persons. The intelligence is investing about the rest two types, said Amu.
The minister also said that a 9-member committee has been formed making additional secretary of Public Security division head to monitor inconsistence transaction.
