Awami League (AL) Advisory Committee Member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Tuesday that any move by the BNP to create anarchy in the name of movement would be resisted with an iron hand, reports BSS.
"The BNP is issuing threats of movement being unable to bear the stigma of failure. In no way, their movement would be tolerated.
The government would be compelled to be tough, if they want to unleash violence and anarchy in the name of movement," he said after placing wreath at Banani graveyard on the occasion of the third death anniversary of AL leader Abdur Razzak.
One of the organisers of the Liberation War, Abdur Razzak died on December 23 in 2011 in Kolkata where he was undergoing treatment.
Recalling the memory of Abdur Razzak, Tofail Ahmed said he worked till the end of his life to establish the rights of the people of this country.
The Awami League could be stronger, if Abdur Razzak was alive, he observed.
Earlier, the AL, Jubo League, Shecchasebak League, Chhatra League and other front organisations placed wreaths at the grave of Abdur Razzak.
The AL also held a milad and doa mahfil at Banani Graveyard Mosque, which was attended by AL Presidium member and Minister for Road Transport and Bridge Obaidul Quader, AL Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, former State Minister for Home Shamsul Haq Tuku and late Abdur Razzak's son Nahim Razzak.
