The government has taken initiatives to develop 500 Bangla applications (apps) compatible to android-based mobile phone to ensure people's easy access to services.
In this connection, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division and Ethics Advanced Technology Limited (EATL) in the city Sunday, reports BSS.
ICT Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan and Managing Director of EATL MA Mubin Khan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Of the 500 mobile applications, 300 applications will be developed on various information and services of government ministries, directorates and departments and the remaining 200 on creative concepts to be received on competitive activities.
In this connection, Tk 94.70 million National Mobile Application Trainer and Innovative Application Development Programme has been taken and will be implemented under the ICT Division for a period of one year from July this year.
The programme is expected to be implemented ahead of schedule.
As per the agreement, 500 youngsters of different public and private universities located in seven divisions of the country will be provided with three months mobile apps development training.
"With the increase in the number of smart phone and internet users across the country, the government has put its best endeavour to ensure people's access to public services through mobile phones," NI Khan told the function.
He said the number of smart phone users is about 30 per cent out of over 110 million mobile phone users while the number of internet users is about 40 million.
