Govt to ensure balanced development in country

GAIBANDHA, Dec 25 (BSS): The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given priority to overall development of neglected areas of the country to ensure balanced development.
President of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Mahmud Hasan Ripon said this while addressing a meeting organised by Shaghata Upazila marking the inauguration of the construction works of three roads at Kamalerpara Union Parishad (UP) under the upazila in the district Thursday.
Mr Ripon said necessary steps would be taken to protect Kamalerpara and Shaghata areas from the erosion of the Jamuna and the Bangali rivers, bring Kamalerpara UP under rural electrification, construct the Gaibandha-Sirajganj Road and build Fulchhari Bahadurbad Ghat and second Bangabandhu Bridge over the Brahmaputra river.
He told the function that the incomplete works of the Melandaha Bridge would also be started very soon.
