Govt to implement any EC decision

Ruling Awami League (AL) says the government will implement any decision of the Election Commission (EC) to hold the by-polls in Bhola-3 constituency in cent per cent free, fair, credible and neutral manner, reports UNB.
AL advisory council member and the party's chief coordinator for Bhola-3 by-election Tofail Ahmed MP made the remark at a press conference at AL President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office in the city Friday afternoon in response to the opposition BNP's demand for deployment of Army for the by-election.
"We want BNP to participate in the polls and uphold the spirit of democracy," he said.
Tofail said the Election Commission was completely independent and it could take any decision for holding the polls in free and fair manner.
The AL leader was highly critical of BNP for resorting to "falsehood" and giving the people untrue information over Bhola-3 election by holding press conference everyday.
He said it seemed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and its secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain did not want their candidate Maj (retd) Hafiz to participate in and win the election. "In fact, they want to create an issue to meet their own evil political purpose."
