Govt to rehabilitate beggars: Minister

Social Welfare Minister Enamul Haque Mostafa Shaheed has said the government has taken measures to rehabilitate beggars to eliminate begging from society, reports BSS.
"It is absolutely necessary to rehabilitate beggars and disadvantaged people for ensuring social security".
The minister said this Wednesday at a discussion in the city.
The Social Environment and Human Rights Implementing Agency arranged the discussion on "Duty of Mass Media and Affluent People for Disadvantaged Women and Children" at National Press Club in the city.
He also said the rate of poverty would decline if affluent people give Zakat according to Islamic Shariah. He expressed his hope that rich people would come forward for the welfare of destitute women and children.
Presided over by chairman of the organisation Lion HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan, the function was addressed, among others, by Rashed Khan Menon and Bhorer Dak editor KM Belayet Hossain.
Later, the minister distributed Eid dresses among underprivileged women and children.
