Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said Friday the government must take stern action against the troublemakers who will try to curb people's fundamental rights in any way, reports BSS.
"It is the responsibility of the government to ensure citizens' fundamental rights . . . No unruly and destructive activities in the name of anti-government movement will be allowed in Bangladesh," he said while speaking at a conference of Ranapasha Union unit of Awami League at Nolcity in Jhalokathi.
Amu, also a senior Awami League leader, bitterly criticised the unruly activities of BNP and Jamaat men, who tried to launch movement in the streets to foil the January 5 general election.
"They (BNP-Jamaat) unleashed a reign of terror throughout the country and started mass-killing to destroy the constitutional continuity but after assuming office, Sheikh Hasina brought the situation under control," he observed.
He said the BNP and Jamaat alliance has been isolated from the people and as the (people) won't respond to the call of movement against the government.
Ranapasha Union AL president Mojibur Rahman Mina presided over the meeting.
