Minister for Liberation War Affairs A K M Mozammel Haque Saturday categorically said that the government in no way would allow terrorist organisation to operate in the country, reports BSS.
"Even we would not allow any militant organisations to use its land to cause harm to other countries," he said.
The minister was addressing as the chief guest at a function marking stipend distribution to the offsprings of freedom fighters (FFs) and their dependents by Indian government at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Gulshan in the capital.
Indian High Commissioner (HC) Pankaj Saran, Freedom Fighter Dr Md Jubayer Rahman and artist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Monoranjan Ghosal, among others, also addressed the function.
About Jamaat-e-Islami politics in independent Bangladesh, the minister said the party has no right to do politics in the country for its anti-liberation role during the country's great war of independence in 1971.
"The Jamaat-e-Islami must be banned for its anti- state and terrorist role in independent Bangladesh," he added. The minister recalled the role of the then Indian government for the cause of the country's independence with gratitude and hoped that India's cooperation to build a non-communal Bangladesh with the spirit of the War of Liberation would continue in the days to come.
Pankaj Saran said like 1971, India would stand beside the people of Bangladesh in future as relations between the two countries have been progressing through equal partnership and mutual cooperation.
He said the two countries have been working in poverty eradication, health and power sectors for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mohammad Nasim Saturday said the BNP-Jamaat alliance earned hatred by burning people alive over the last few months in the name of hartal and blockade across the country.
"The BNP-Jamaat alliance earned nothing but hatred of the countrymen by burning people alive over the last few months in the name of its so-called political movement," he said.
Nasim made the remarks while visiting the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to see for himself the patients who suffered burn injuries during the BNP-Jamaat sponsored blockade and hartal programmes.
