Govt working relentlessly for people's welfare: Speaker

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday said the government has relentlessly been working for ensuring welfare of the common people, reports BSS.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, massive development activities are underway in Pirganj upazila as elsewhere in the country and Pirganj will be turned into a model upazila in near future," she said.
The Speaker was addressing a function on "Launching official paddy procurement drive and distribution of cost-free chemical fertilisers and maize seeds" at Pirganj Upazila Parishad auditorium in her Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency as chief guest.
The Speaker said the present government has taken elaborate agriculture-friendly programmes, including distribution of cost-free fertilisers and seeds, among small and marginal farmers.
She directed the authorities concerned to carry out the paddy procurement activities more transparently.
Dr. Shirin said fifty academic buildings of different educational institutions have been constructed in Pirganj upazila in last five years and the country is moving ahead toward all spheres of the national life, including education, as such the present government is committed to continuing its mammoth development programmes," she said.
