Castigating the government high-ups for making 'derogatory' remarks about the US and its diplomats, BNP feared Saturday such an attitude of the regime may dent Bangladesh's diplomatic ties with America, report agencies.
The party termed devoid of diplomatic etiquette Awami League (AL) secretary general Syed Asharful Islam's comment about US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal and said his remark also exposed government's position in favour of racism.
"The bilateral ties mean not only economic relations. Instead, there're many other things in it. When a government shows such an attitude towards any country it casts a negative impact on diplomatic ties," said BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a press conference at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in the city. Echoing Mobin BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir who was present at the press meet also said the way the prime minister talked about US it may hurt the bilateral and diplomatic ties with the super power.
