A senior Awami League (AL) leader brought allegation against BNP for emergence of militancy in the country, reports BSS.
"It has been recognised nationally and internationally as well that BNP has been patronising militancy. They are the other side of the coin of Jamaat because BNP is now following the same path in its activities and in the process Jamaat-Shibir carried out terrorism and subversive acts," joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said.
Hanif made the remarks while talking to reporters emerging from a joint meeting at the political office of Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city. The meeting was convened to make the founding anniversary programmes of Awami League on June 23 a success.
The AL joint general secretary said, "Demand has already been raised from within the BNP to exclude Khaleda Zia from its leadership for her wrong decisions and failure. For this reason, she wants to remain in the topic of public conversation passing remarks against the government."
He said, "Prior to Bangladesh visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BNP posed that they are not anti-Indian. In reality, Khaleda Zia said this to get a scope to meet Modi. But, all the ideologies they nurture are against India. They use religion by believing in anti-Indian politics."
