Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Friday August 21 carnage would have been repeated in the country if BNP were in power, reports BSS.
"If BNP were in power, the people would have fallen victims of atrocities and corruption of the party leaders," he said at a discussion held to observe the Genocide Day at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) here.
Bangladesh Awami Muktijoddha Prajanma League organised the discussion which was addressed by the organisation's president Asaduzzaman Durjoy, Awami League leader Balaram Podder, Dhaka City South AL member Minhaj Uddin Mintu and Prajanma League General Secretary Munshi Ebadul Islam.
Mahmud, also a spokesman of Awami League, said BNP has become envious of Awami League government over the country's achieving the eligibility for graduating towards the developing country status.
Because of their political vengeance, BNP leaders are now out to mislead people by giving false information, he added.
