TUNGIPARA, Jan 09 (UNB): Without using their official car, Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana on Wednesday walked over half a kilometre to get on a helicopter to return to the capital after offering prayers at Bangabandhu's shrine.

The PM's official car was ready to take them to the helipad, over half a km away from her village home in Tungipara, but she preferred to walk down the village route along with Sheikh Rehana.

"There's no need to use the car. This distance could be crossed on foot," she told her officials and security personnel.

The officials and security personnel along with local leaders of Awami League also accompanied Bangabandhu's two daughters up to the helipad.

The PM went to Tungipara to pay homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as she formed government for fourth time, including third consecutive one, following her party's massive victory in the December30 general election.
