Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday reiterated her commitment to establishing a corruption-free society and ensuring food security in the country, report agencies. The WB top executive assured the Prime Minister of the Bank's continued support to all development projects in the country, including the Padma Bridge project. She said that despite global economic recession, the Bangladesh economy maintained gross domestic product (GDP) at a satisfactory level. "The World Bank's cooperation in construction of the Padma bridge and implementing various uplift programmes would be continued," said Okonjo-Iweala. She also appreciated prudent and farsighted leadership and active role of Hasina for tackling the climate change challenges caused by global warming. WB country director Ellen Goldstein, Ambassador at-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to the PM MA Karim, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) secretary Mollah Wahiduzzaman and PM's press secretary Abul Kalam Azad were present.
