Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged all the ruling party lawmakers to carry out their constitutional duties with sincerity for the welfare of their respective constituencies.
She made the call when newly elected Bhola-3 MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon called on her at Ganobhaban Saturday, reports UNB.
"I hope that all MPs will work for the welfare of the Parliament and their own constituencies," she said.
Hasina congratulated Shaon for his win over the BNP candidate, adding, "You have to work for the people of your constituency and this is your constitutional responsibility".
Hasina asked the newly elected MP to work for maintaining law and order in his area.
She also said that the Election Commission presented a free, fair, neutral and acceptable election during her tenure.
"They (EC) did the job with skill and my government wanted that the EC would perform their duty neutrally and fairly," she said.
