Mentioning that they have no trust in the Election Commission, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershadon said on Wednesday it will be proved through the Brahmanbaria-1 (Nasirnagar) by-polls how neutral the commission is, reports UNB.

He made the remarks while addressing a party rally at Kalikachcha Eidgah in Sarail upazila.

The by-election to the parliamentary seat which fell vacant following the death of Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muahammed Sayedul Hoque will be held on March 13.

Alleging that the present government has turned its all attention to sticking to power, Ershad said no government can survive resorting to killing and making people disappeared. "People's love is required to stay in power.

However, the government's attention is not focused on people," he said.

He also said they have no internal conflict in the party. "Jatiya Party will contest the next general election independently and form the government," he added.

Slamming the government for the skyrocketing prices of essentials, the Jatiya Party chief said although it says there is enough stock of food grains, the reality is quite different.
