HC disposes of Jodge Mia controversy

November 24, 2014 00:00:00

With some observations, the High Court (HC) Sunday disposed of the plea that sought to revoke the evidence made by prosecution witness (PW) Jodge Mia before the trial court in the August 21 grenade blast case a decade ago, reports UNB.

After hearing both sides, an HC division bench comprising Justice MA Hafiz and Justice M Ruhul Quddus passed the order saying that the matter had been disposed of with some observations.

Although the plea is not granted, but the door has been kept open for the defence in the future, said the court order.

Accused Ujjal had moved the High Court as the trial court rejected his plea of cancelling the evidence of Jodge Mia in the case.

Emerging from the court, Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir told journalists that following the HC order there is no problem to accept the testimony made by PW Jodge Mia before the trial court in the August 21 grenade attack case.
