HC grants bail to land ministry official

The High Court has granted an interim bail to Kutub Uddin Ahmed, a former administrative officer of the land ministry, who was sentenced to five years in prison in a graft case, reports BSS.

A High Court bench of Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman granted him bail for six months.

During the hearing, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan and defendant's lawyer Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun were present.

On April 8, 2018, the ACC arrested Kutub Uddin, the then administrative officer of the land ministry.

According to the case, Ahmed using his influence strategically released Rajuk's property through a gazette notification. He showed one Nazmul Islam Sayeed as a fake land surveyor and three including his father-in-law Abdul Jalil Mridha as buyers.
