The High Court (HC) on Wednesday rejected a writ filed three years ago by rights organisation 'Odhikar' challenging the legality of NGO Affairs Bureau's decision of not renewing its registration.
An HC bench of justices Md Khasruzzaman and Md Iqbal Kabir delivered the verdict after hearing petitioner's lawyer who said that the organisation will not run the petition as it has submitted an appeal to the office of the senior secretary at the Prime Minister's Office against the NGO Bureau's decision.
Lawyer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan appeared in the court hearing on behalf of the organisation while deputy attorney general Kazi Maynul Hassan represented the state.
Mr Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan said Odhikar will take necessary steps after receiving the decision from the PMO office to this effect.
