HC rule on paying Tk 100m compensation to Abrar's family

The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why the court shall not order to provide Tk 100 million in compensation to the family of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad, who was brutally killed by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men in 2019 over his posts on Facebook, reports BSS.
The HC division bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam passed an interim order with the rule after holding hearing on a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Shahin Alam.
The court also ordered the Cabinet Division to form a probe commission in this regard.
Advocate Mahbub Morshed moved the plea before the court, while deputy attorney general Redwan Ahmed Rajib stood for the state.
