President M Abdul Hamid has been invited to attend the 4th summit of the 'Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia' (CICA) to be held on May 20-21 in Shanghai, China, reports UNB.
Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Li Jun, on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, handed over an invitation letter to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam during a meeting held at the latter's office on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Chinese envoy discussed the forthcoming visit of China's Yunnan Province governor Li Jiheng to Bangladesh in the third week of March.
The Governor will be meeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque during his Dhaka visit.
Report adds: President Abdul Hamid on Sunday underscored the need for ensuring quality education in private universities as well as proper facilities for their students.
The president said this when a delegation of Daffodil International University (DIU), led by its Board of Trustees Chairman M Sabur Khan, met him at Bangabhaban.
