March 06, 2015 00:00:00

The hearing on the petitions submitted by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to the High Court seeking the transfer of her two graft cases to another court and stay operation of her arrest warrant was held back on Thursday until March 12, reports UNB.

An HC division bench of Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice M Khasruzzaman passed the order when the matters came up for hearing.

Khaleda Zia, the principal accused in the Zia Charitable and Zia Orphanage Trust fund graft cases, filed the no-confidence motion with the HC on January 28 in a bid to have transfer of the cases to another court expressing her apprehension that she would not get justice from Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge Court-3.

She also filed another supplementary petition with the HC seeking to stay operation of the arrest warrant in the two graft cases issued by the Special Judge's Court-3 on February 25 last for non-appearance at the court during the trial.

Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokon appeared for Khaleda Zia while advocate Khurshid Alam Khan for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir was present for the government.
