Hearing of review plea put off for week

The apex court adjourned the hearing of the six-year-old review plea, which challenged an earlier verdict that cancelled the 16th constitutional amendment, for a week after receiving senior lawyers' opinion.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear the petition on November 16.
However, a question has been raised whether a six-member bench of the Appellate Division can hear a review petition.
Manzill Murshid, a lawyer of the writ petitioners who challenged the amendment, raised the question on Thursday when the matter was up for hearing.
