A Hefazat-e Islam leader has been granted bail for six months in five cases, including three related to killing of policemen and violence, out of seven cases, reports bdnews24.com.
The bench of Justices Naima Haider and Zafar Ahmed granted bail to Mohammad Wakkas on Monday.
The defence had, of course, sought the bail for him in all seven cases.
Hefazat supporters had attacked police during their rally at Motijheel in Dhaka on May 5 last year. Paltan and Motijheel police filed cases against him the following day.
Senior lawyer Khandker Mahbub Hossain represented the defense. He was assisted by lawyer Masud Rana.
Deputy Attorney General Khandker Diliruzzaman, who stood for the state, said "We will appeal against the bail in the cases."
