Hizb-ut Tahrir member held in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, May 9 (UNB): Police arrested a private college teacher from Chandgaon residential area of the port city on Friday night for his suspected involvement with banned Islamic outfit Hizb-ut Tahrir Bangladesh.

The arrestee was identified as Sharful Awal, 27, a teacher of a private college in Cox's Bazar and a resident of Munshibari of Lala Nagar in Rangunia upazila of Chittagong.

Tipped off, a team of Chandgaon Police Station launched a drive in the rented house of Sharful in Chandgaon residential area at night and arrested him, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station Shahidul Islam said.

The police team also recovered some jihadi books from the house, he said.
