Amid reports of corruption allegation against him, Secretary for Home Affairs Abdul Karim met Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury at the latter's office in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, the home secretary described it as a courtesy call as he came to visit the office of the Department of Narcotics Control situated on the third floor of the ACC building.
He said they discussed organisational matters like shifting the office of the Department of Narcotics Control under his ministry from the building, as more space would be required after the ACC's expansion.
Replying to a question, the home secretary said during the meeting the reported allegation of corruption against him was not discussed.
Asked to comment on the allegation, the home secretary said there was nothing to say about that.
ACC Secretary Mokhles ur Rahman in the ACC's regular briefing on September 13 said the commission would examine as to whether the corruption allegation against Karim as reported in a section of press warrants any inquiry.
He said the anti-graft watchdog has not yet taken any decision if the allegation is at all eligible for investigation.
About shifting the office of the Department of Narcotics Control, Mokhles told journalists the office would be shifted from the commission building by December, as the ACC would require more space when total manpower in accordance with the new organogram would be in place.
