Ruhul Amin Howlader has been removed from the post of secretary general of Jatiya Party (JP), said party Chairman HM Ershad's spokesperson Sunil Subho Roy, reports bdnews24.com.

Presidium member and MP Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu will replace him, said Roy.

Bablu, who served the military strongman's government as minister, is the MP from Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) constituency.

He was also made adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the poll-time interim government before the January general election.

Patuakhali-1 MP Howlader has been placed in the party's Presidium.

The new secretary general, along with Anisul Islam Mahmud who holds the key water resources ministry being an MP of the Opposition, are said to be pro-Awami League, the party in government.

Howlader, on the other hand, is said to represent the faction within the party which is more inclined towards the BNP.
