KHULNA, July 11 (UNB): Averse to politics of late, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor and BNP leader Sheikh Toyebur Rahman Wednesday told journalists not to ask him any political question, and spat his ire at the past political governments.
"I don't understand politics. Don't ask me any question on politics. I am a lawyer and diplomat", the KCC mayor said.
He lamented that there had been 'no development' done in the city during the past rule of Awami League and the BNP-led four-party alliance.
"Rather, the present government is working for the interest of balanced development of the whole country as well as sincere towards the development of Khulna region", Rahman told journalists at a views-exchange meeting at the KCC Bhaban.
The dissident in the BNP cited a number of steps taken up for development of the region during the times of the present caretaker government.
These are allocation of fund for piping gas into Khulna region, modernisation of Mongla seaport, doing unfinished work of Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital, establishing a modern park and modernisation of the rail-station.
